Touch Development League (TDL)

Spring League 2026

Where Fundamentals Meet Fun.

TDL is a development-first basketball league built for boys and girls at the beginner and intermediate levels. Our mission is simple: teach the game the right way, build confidence, and help young athletes grow one fundamental at a time.

Unlike traditional rec leagues, TDL blends structured skill development with organized game play — creating a fun, competitive, and encouraging environment where athletes truly improve.

WHAT MAKES TDL DIFFERENT?

TDL isn’t just another youth basketball league.

It’s powered by the Touch Curriculum — a structured, research-aligned system that develops:

  • Shooting mechanics & touch

  • Ball handling & footwork

  • Basketball IQ & decision-making

  • Defensive principles

  • Teamwork & leadership

  • Confidence under pressure

Every practice and game is intentionally designed to maximize reps, increase decision-making speed, and create long-term skill retention.

PRACTICE MODEL: TOUCH UNIVERSITY FORMAT

Friday practices follow our Touch University class structure:

  • Progressive skill instruction

  • Small-sided games for maximum touches

  • Guided discovery coaching

  • Competitive reps in controlled environments

This means athletes don’t just “run plays.”
They learn spacing, timing, reads, and how to think the game.

TOUCH CERTIFIED COACHES

Every TDL instructor goes through our Touch Certification Training System, which ensures:

  • Consistent coaching language

  • Age-appropriate skill progressions

  • Positive leadership standards

  • Proper mechanics instruction

  • Accountability and structure

Our coaches aren’t volunteers guessing at drills.
They are trained, aligned, and held to a high development standard.

BUILT BY TOUCH SHOOTING

TDL is powered by Touch Shooting Academy, one of Northern California’s leading basketball development organizations.

Founded by Ryan Sypkens, former Division I record-holder and professional player, Touch Shooting has developed thousands of athletes through a philosophy centered on:

  • Fundamentals first

  • Details matter

  • Teaching the “why”

  • Long-term growth over short-term hype

TDL is the league extension of that philosophy.

WHO TDL IS FOR

  • Athletes just getting started

  • Players looking to sharpen fundamentals

  • Families who value development over chaos

  • Kids who want to build confidence in a structured setting

If your child wants to improve, learn the game correctly, and compete in a positive culture — TDL is the place.
