Founder & CEO
Introducing Ryan, the visionary founder of Touch Shooting, who laid the cornerstone of our venture back in 2017 in his hometown of Sacramento. His mission was crystal clear – not just to elevate the game in Greater Sacramento but to set a new standard beyond. Ryan is the relentless force driving our commitment to imparting knowledge and skill, shaping the success stories of the next generation both on and off the court.
What sets Coach Ryan apart is not just his name; it's his record-breaking legacy. A true standout, he holds the ALL TIME RECORD for Made three-point FG’s in the Big West Conference, and he proudly led the Nation in three-point percentage for NCAA D1. Adding to his accolades, Ryan shattered the single-game, single-season, and career three-point records at his alma mater, UC Davis. Post-college, he took his talents abroad, playing professional basketball in Colombia and Japan.
But there's more to Coach Ryan's journey. His coaching repertoire includes Head Coaching at the National Prep School level (Prolific Prep - GSP), working with basketball elites across the spectrum, including NBA Pro’s like Terence Davis (Sacramento Kings), Ben McLemore (Portland Trail Blazers), and Jeenathan Williams (Houston Rockets).
Recognized globally as a premier skill development specialist and mentor, Coach Ryan isn't merely focused on the physical game. He is a Certified Performance Psychologist through KBME, delving into the nuances of mental skill development. Here's the clincher – he's not just shaping players; he's pioneering new pathways for skills trainers worldwide to elevate their craft. Welcome to the future of basketball, guided by the unparalleled expertise of Coach Ryan!

Lead Instructor, Touch Shooting Basketball Training Sacramento
Christian found his passion for coaching and training fueled by his love for the game and the desire to help others. His goal is simple yet impactful: use basketball as a tool to teach essential life skills, all while embracing personal growth every step of the way.
Originally from Bakersfield, Christian played college ball at UC San Diego. He made waves throughout his college career, earning all-conference honors three times and consistently being one of the top scorers in the league. His team even hit the NCAA tournament twice. During off-seasons, Christian trained hard in Sacramento with Ryan and Touch Shooting, resulting in two standout seasons where he averaged over 15 points per game and shot over 40% from beyond the arc. The peak of his college journey? Leading his team to a Conference Championship, snagging the Conference MVP title, and guiding his crew to the NCAA tournament.
Post-college life led Christian to become a Division 1 Assistant Coach at UC San Diego for three years. Bringing both player and coach perspectives to the table, Christian is committed to teaching the next generation of players. For him, it's not just about the "HOW" of the game but also the "WHY" – an essential element in his coaching philosophy.

Meet Amir Carraway, the dynamic new lead trainer at Touch Shooting, who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Touch. Having faced and overcome adversity early in his career, Amir channeled his passion for basketball into a relentless pursuit of excellence. This journey has now brought him back to Sacramento to inspire and train the next generation of athletes.
A former high school teammate of founder Ryan Sypkens, Amir's senior season was cut short by injury, yet he secured a Division II scholarship at Chico State. At Chico State, he set the ALL TIME RECORD for points in the CCAA Tournament, led the team to its first CCAA Championship and NCAA West Regional Championship, where he was named Most Outstanding Player. A two-time All-CCAA selection, Carraway left a lasting mark, ranking among the program's top 10 in points, 3-pointers, blocked shots, free throws, free throw percentage, games won, and games played.
Post-college, Amir took his talents abroad, playing professional basketball in Europe, South America, and China for seven years. Notably, he led club team Cimarrones de Choco (Colombia) to its second championship and had a historic Final Four appearance in the FIBA Liga Sudamericana. He also played for CD Valdivia in Chile, contributing to another championship season before his stint in China. In the offseason, Amir had teamed up again with Ryan as a skills trainer for Prolific Prep in Napa, CA.
At Touch Shooting, Amir leverages his extensive experience to develop training programs that emphasize strategic thinking and leadership. His deep commitment to mentoring ensures that every athlete not only learns how to play but understands the intricacies of winning and excelling both on and off the court.

Ryan is a true student of the game. From the start, he took everything I taught him and pushed himself even further. What I love about Ryan is that he’s not just about being a great shooter—he’s about understanding the game and passing that knowledge on. He’s got a passion for teaching and a work ethic that’s rare. Seeing him now as a coach and leader, using what he’s learned to inspire the next generation, makes me proud. He’s building a legacy that’s about more than just the numbers—it’s about the right way to play and grow.
